Hiring a Private Driver in Croatia We have returned from our journey... I would like to let you know that the service we received was stellar! The communication prior to arrival in Dubrovnik was always promptly responded to and my questions were always answered thoroughly! Since we were staying at Hotel Uvala in the Lapad Bay area of Dubrovnik, it was less expensive to hire them to transfer us to our hotel from the Dubrovnik Airport than the Croatia Airlines transfer bus and then to a city bus transfer! The cost was 30 euro for both of us. Our meeting time for our Mostar day was confirmed and our driver was there early. Please remeber he is not a guide, BUT he shared with us a wealth of information. It was easy to communicate with him as his English is excellent! The following day was our Montenegro trip and once again he was early! What was wonderuful as we set the pace of our day. When we wanted to pull over for photos...no problem! Extra time in an area...no problem...on the way back to our hotel both evenings, we asked to stop at the grocery store for picnic supplies...no problem!!! We feel very confident that you will receive the same service! They accept Kunas, Euros and credit cards. ****************************************************************************************** After much research & a recommendation from a friend, we contacted Globus Travel Agency Zagrebacka 36 20000 Dubrovnik CROATIA Taken from http://ourpassportstamps.com/CroatiaPrivateDriver.html
Dear Marijana, transport and tour arrangements you have made during our stay in Dubrovnik. You and your team more than exceeded our expectations. The drivers were very friendly, on time and accomodating and the tour guide was also very friendly and knowledgeable. I look forward to booking any future visits to Dubrovnik through your agency.
Hi Marijana, Just wanted to let you know how much we appreciate the excellent taxi service you provided while my family was travelling in Dubrovnik last june 21. Ivo was punctual, very professional and reliable. The taxi was clean and comfortable. We felt very safe in a your beautiful city esp. since it was our first time, certainly not the last!! Again, thank you for your exceptional service. Sincerely, Angie Borja
If you happen to be have a few extra days in Dubrovnik, consider going to some nearby attractions: Mostar in Bosnia and Kotur, Montenegro. My girlfriend and myself decided to take a private tour by Globus Travel (http://www.globustravel.hr) which is not to be confused with the large travel company of the same name. It is only couple of years old so that is why it doesn't appear in guide books yet. They provided an excellent service and Gianni, our driver, was extremely friendly and professional. We highly recommend their service and would recommend asking for Gianni. The cost for two of us was about the price of 3 people on the larger tour bus (which they also book for). So if you are in a party of three or more, this is by far the more convenient and economical way to go. Plus, we are not fans of big tour buses. Mostar was about a 3-4 hour drive. We asked to stop at Medjogorje for about an hour along the way. Mostar is a unique city and well worth a visit. It definitely a different feel with obvious Turkish and Middle Eastern influence everywhere. I feel it has much more of a cultural and religious feel than Dubrovnik. We spent the day wandering the bazaars, bridge and old mosque. It is much cheaper than Dubrovnik and less crowded with tourist. We had a great time. The next day we went to do a trip around the Bay of Kotor. We had a quick stop at Cavtat. The scenery around the Bay is beautiful and stunning. We were glad we did this from a private van than a bus. The landscape was surprisingly different despite being a few hours from Croatia. The old town of Kotor is great. It had the feel of old city. It is not as "modernized" as the old town of Dubrovnik but you had the sense it will be like Dubrovnik in a few years. Enjoy! Stephen Leong
"From the sunburnt roofs to the allure of the Adriatic, Dubrovnik captures your mind and senses with its elegance, beauty, and every corner steeped in history and with a story to tell. For first class knowledge, first class service, and first class friendliness look no further than Gianni and his company: our wonderful driver who made our private tours of Mostar and Montenegro hassle-free and thoroughly enjoyable. We could not recommend Gianni and Globus Travel enough: great value and great service. We were looking for travel and adventure, we left with wonderful memories and a wonderful friend." Aileen & Steve: London and Colorado. Hello Ivo, As promised, here are the pictures of you and Jason from our excursion on July 30. We had such a WONDERFUL day with you and want to send you our best wishes for great success with your business in the future. We would recommend you to anyone and truly hope to make it back to your beautiful country again one day. Please pass along my thanks to your wife as well for all of her assistance with planning our excursion. Bev and Jason Steffler
Dear Marijana and Gianni,
Dear Marijana and Ivo! I want to thank both of you from the bottom of my heart for the wonderful trip we had back in September! I know it is a little late, but you know - work, kids, parents,etc... and I never took time to thank you! You realy made our trip a special one! Your personal attention and kindness are very different - not everything in this world is about money, there is more, and it is about special people like you! I wish you the best in new 2010! I will be recommending you to all of our friends who are planning to visit Dubrovnik and Croatia, so don't be surprised if you hear my name again! Best of luck to you! Inna
Thank you for the quick reply to our tour request - we had a wonderful day out with your husband - it was very nice and will recommend it to anyone coming in your direction....M
Had a brilliant day in Montenegro - the country was stunning, our tour guide was absolutely wonderful, and the mini van was comfortable and immaculately clean. Thank you for a wonderful trip. Susan Edwards ~ Australia ~ 2009-09-20
Very much enjoyed our tour We hired a company called Globus Travel to provide a tour of Old Town in Dubrovnik while we were ashore at one of our cruise ship stops. The guide they provided was very experienced and really brought to life the history of the place (including the more recent history of the siege in 1991 and 1992). I believe her name was Dushka, although I've probably spelled it wrong. Nov 21, 2009
